This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 10.21

सर्वस्वं ददामि एषां ब्रूहि गाथां सुभषितां ।
एतं सन्तः प्रशंसन्ति धर्मेषु यत् सुभाषितं ॥ २१ ॥

sarvasvaṃ dadāmi eṣāṃ brūhi gāthāṃ subhaṣitāṃ |
etaṃ santaḥ praśaṃsanti dharmeṣu yat subhāṣitaṃ || 21 ||

“I give you all I have. Speak the verse of a wise saying. For the good praise what is well-spoken in accordance with true principles.” (21)
