This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 2.43

आयसासु च द्रोणीषु अयोमुशलकोटिषु ।
सुभन्ति प्रत्यमित्राणि अपि वर्षशतं बहुं ॥ ४३ ॥

āyasāsu ca droṇīṣu ayomuśalakoṭiṣu |
subhanti pratyamitrāṇi api varṣaśataṃ bahuṃ || 43 ||

Merciless creatures beat them up in iron tubs with iron-tipped pestles, even for many a hundred years. (43)
