उन्नतानतसंपातनिपातेनातिघूर्णितः ।
विकारोपलनिर्घातैः पारम्पर्येण चूर्णितः ॥ ३९ ॥

vikāropalanirghātaiḥ pāramparyeṇa cūrṇitaḥ || 39 ||

The mind is ever hurled up and down, with the ups and downs of fortune; and is continually crushed under the millstone of his rising and setting passions.
