The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.88.23

तं दग्धमणिमादाय प्राक्तनीं च श्रियं जहौ ।
सर्वं चितामणेरस्मात्प्राप्यते किं धनैरिह ॥ २३ ॥

taṃ dagdhamaṇimādāya prāktanīṃ ca śriyaṃ jahau |
sarvaṃ citāmaṇerasmātprāpyate kiṃ dhanairiha || 23 ||

He took up that sham trumpery for a real gem, and thought it as the philosopher's stone that would confer on him whatever he desired; with this belief he gave up in charity all he had, as they were no more of any use to him.
