The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.10.24

बीजेषूल्लासरूपेण जाड्येन जडरूपिषु ।
द्रव्येषु द्रव्यभावेन काठिन्येनेतरेषु च ॥ २४ ॥

bījeṣūllāsarūpeṇa jāḍyena jaḍarūpiṣu |
dravyeṣu dravyabhāvena kāṭhinyenetareṣu ca || 24 ||

This inherent power resides in the manner of productive power in the seeds of living beings, and in that of inertness in dull material bodies. It is of the nature of hardness in all solid substances, and that of tenuity in soft and liquid things.
