The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.7.12

संतता मोहमिहिका कार्यासारविसारिणी ।
यमुना प्रावृषीवैति तिमिरश्यामला चिरम् ॥ १२ ॥

saṃtatā mohamihikā kāryāsāravisāriṇī |
yamunā prāvṛṣīvaiti timiraśyāmalā ciram || 12 ||

The overspreading mist of ignorance, stretches out a maze of ceremonial rites, and envelopes the minds of common people in utter darkness; as the river Yamuna overflows its banks with its dark waters.
