The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.82.15

घटात्पटमुपायाति पटाच्छकटमुत्कटम् ।
चित्तमर्थेषु चरति पादपेष्विव मर्कटः ॥ १५ ॥

ghaṭātpaṭamupāyāti paṭācchakaṭamutkaṭam |
cittamartheṣu carati pādapeṣviva markaṭaḥ || 15 ||

It turns from this object to that, as they say from the pot to the picture and from that to the chariot (ghata, pata and sakata): and in this manner the mind roves about the objects of sense, as a monkey leaps from branch to branch of a tree.
