The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.54.55

चिरानुसंधानवशात्स्वदनाच्च स्वसंविदः ।
ततश्चिन्मयतामागाद्धेम नूपुरतामिव ॥ ५५ ॥

cirānusaṃdhānavaśātsvadanācca svasaṃvidaḥ |
tataścinmayatāmāgāddhema nūpuratāmiva || 55 ||

It was then by means of his constant inquiry, that he advanced to the state of his intellectuality, from that of his consciousness of himself; as the gold that is moulded to the form of a jewel, is reduced afterwards to the pure metal only.
