The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.31.8

निरुद्यमा गतश्रीका दीनाः प्रकटिताशयाः ।
बान्धवा न विराजन्ते पद्माः प्लुष्टदला इव ॥ ८ ॥

nirudyamā gataśrīkā dīnāḥ prakaṭitāśayāḥ |
bāndhavā na virājante padmāḥ pluṣṭadalā iva || 8 ||

We find our friends on the other hand, to be all disfigured and effortless; and sitting melancholy and dejected in their hopelessness, like lotuses with their withered leaves and petals.
