The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

अहमात्मेति जीवोऽस्मीत्येतावच्चित्तकं विदुः ।
अनेनेत्थमनाद्यन्तं दुःखं राघव तन्यते ॥ ५९ ॥

ahamātmeti jīvo'smītyetāvaccittakaṃ viduḥ |
anenetthamanādyantaṃ duḥkhaṃ rāghava tanyate || 59 ||

The thought that “I have a soul and a living soul also,” brings on us all the miseries to which we are exposed to all eternity.
