The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.53.23

यथा कुसूले मार्जारो भस्त्रायां भुजगो यथा ।
मुक्ताफलं यथा वेणावहङ्कारस्तथा तनौ ॥ २३ ॥

yathā kusūle mārjāro bhastrāyāṃ bhujago yathā |
muktāphalaṃ yathā veṇāvahaṅkārastathā tanau || 23 ||

Egoism resides in the body like a rat in the barn-house, and as a snake in the hollow ground. It falls down as a dew drop from the blade of a reed, upon advance of the sunlight of reason.
