उक्तेरेव स्वभावोऽयमुक्तेरुक्तिरनन्तरम् ।
प्रतियोगिव्यवच्छेदसंख्याद्यर्थे न युज्यते ॥ २७ ॥

uktereva svabhāvo'yamukteruktiranantaram |
pratiyogivyavacchedasaṃkhyādyarthe na yujyate || 27 ||

It is the nature of disputation to contradict one another by replies and rejoinders; but it is not right to foil the adversary by false sophistry.
