The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.19.26

सुषुप्ते सौम्यतां यातैः प्राणैः संचाल्यते यदा ।
स जीवधातुः सा संवित्ततश्चित्ततयोदिता ॥ २६ ॥

suṣupte saumyatāṃ yātaiḥ prāṇaiḥ saṃcālyate yadā |
sa jīvadhātuḥ sā saṃvittataścittatayoditā || 26 ||

When the vital principle comes again to action, after the enjoyment of its sound sleep, either in this or the other world, (i.e. when it is restored to or reborn in life); it takes the name of the living element or the mind or self-consciousness.
