The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

हा नेत्रे कृष्णरजनीरजःशुष्केन्धनैजने ।
कस्मान्न मे भूषयतो दृग्ज्वालामालया दिश ॥ ३७ ॥

hā netre kṛṣṇarajanīrajaḥśuṣkendhanaijane |
kasmānna me bhūṣayato dṛgjvālāmālayā diśa || 37 ||

O my eyes! that used to dispel the darkness of the darkest night, and kindle the dry fuel with your glaring fire; why do ye cease to lighten the air with your effulgence?
