The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.55.27

आदौ मृता वयमिति बुध्यन्ते तदनुक्रमात् ।
बन्धुपिण्डादिदानेन प्रोत्पन्ना इति वेदिनः ॥ २७ ॥

ādau mṛtā vayamiti budhyante tadanukramāt |
bandhupiṇḍādidānena protpannā iti vedinaḥ || 27 ||

Having thought themselves to be extinct at first, they come to feel their resuscitation afterwards, upon receiving the offering of the mess, made to their departed spirits.
