The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.39.27

अतिप्रयत्नापहृतम्रियमाणनरामिषम् ।
स्वभक्ष्यापेक्षपक्षेषु विक्षिप्तशवराशिवत् ॥ २७ ॥

atiprayatnāpahṛtamriyamāṇanarāmiṣam |
svabhakṣyāpekṣapakṣeṣu vikṣiptaśavarāśivat || 27 ||

Many dying bodies, that were lifted aloft with labour by the bogies (Danas), were let to fall down dead on the ground, being found unfit for their food.
