The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

स्तोकेनानन्दमायाति स्तोकेनायाति खेदिताम् ।
नास्ति देहसमः शोच्यो नीचो गुणबहिष्कृतः ॥ ४ ॥

stokenānandamāyāti stokenāyāti kheditām |
nāsti dehasamaḥ śocyo nīco guṇabahiṣkṛtaḥ || 4 ||

The body is as easily gratified with a little, as it is exhausted in an instant, hence there is nothing so pitiable, abject and worthless as our bodies.
