Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. बिभेद स शरैः शैलं क्रौञ्चं हिमवतः सुतम् ।
तेन हंसाश्च गृध्राश्च मेरुं गच्छन्ति पर्वतम् ॥ ३१ ॥

bibheda sa śaraiḥ śailaṃ krauñcaṃ himavataḥ sutam |
tena haṃsāśca gṛdhrāśca meruṃ gacchanti parvatam || 31 ||
