Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. अथाश्रमपदं प्राप्य तं स्म भूयो महात्मनः ।
शप्ताः स्म इति जानन्त ऋषिं तमुपचक्रमुः ॥ ३४ ॥

athāśramapadaṃ prāpya taṃ sma bhūyo mahātmanaḥ |
śaptāḥ sma iti jānanta ṛṣiṃ tamupacakramuḥ || 34 ||
