Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. साप्सरा मुक्तशापा च क्षणेन समपद्यत ।
पुरोक्ता या भगवता तिर्यग्योनिगता शुभे ।
मानुषौ जनयित्वा त्वं शापमोक्षमवाप्स्यसि ॥ ५२ ॥

sāpsarā muktaśāpā ca kṣaṇena samapadyata |
puroktā yā bhagavatā tiryagyonigatā śubhe |
mānuṣau janayitvā tvaṃ śāpamokṣamavāpsyasi || 52 ||
