Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. त्रीन्वर्णाननुतिष्ठन्ति यथावदनसूयकाः ।
मम शूद्राः स्वकर्मस्था मामकान्तरमाविशः ॥ १७ ॥

mama śūdrāḥ svakarmasthā māmakāntaramāviśaḥ || 17 ||
