Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. हतेश्वरैश्चूर्णितपत्त्युपस्करैर्हताश्वसूतैर्विपताककेतुभिः ।
महारथैर्भूः शुशुभे विचूर्णितैः पुरैरिवामित्रहतैर्नराधिप ॥ ४४ ॥

hateśvaraiścūrṇitapattyupaskarairhatāśvasūtairvipatākaketubhiḥ |
mahārathairbhūḥ śuśubhe vicūrṇitaiḥ purairivāmitrahatairnarādhipa || 44 ||
