Note! The following is not a translation of the above verse, but merely an arbitrary extract of the English text.

The Dhanurveda Samhita was compiled by the great sage Vasishta. One day, desiring to conquer the world, the saintly King Vishvamitra approached his spiritual master, Vasishtha, and bowed down to him as follows. O lord, please explain the art of bow to your disciple who is a firm listener and who will destroy your wicked enemies. The great sage Vasishtha, the foremost of the brahmanas, addressed him as follows: O King Vishvamitra, please hear from me the mystery of the bow and arrow that Lord Sadashiva, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, spoke to Parashurama about. This compilation of the Yajur Veda and Atharva Veda is for the welfare of cows, brahmanas, saintly persons and the Vedas.
