The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 4.54

एवमाक्षिप्यमाणो ऽपि स तु धैर्यावृतेन्द्रियः ।
मर्तव्यमिति सोद्वेगो न जहर्ष न सिस्मिये ॥ ५४ ॥

evamākṣipyamāṇo 'pi sa tu dhairyāvṛtendriyaḥ |
martavyamiti sodvego na jaharṣa na sismiye || 54 ||

But although thus attacked, he, having his senses guarded by self-control, neither rejoiced nor smiled, thinking anxiously, 'One must die.'
