The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 3.57

बुद्धीन्द्रियप्राणगुणैर्वियुक्तः सुप्तो विसञ्ज्ञस्तृणकाष्ठभूतः ।
सम्बध्य संरक्ष्य च यत्नवद्भिः प्रियाप्रियैस्त्यज्यत एष को ऽपि ॥ ५७ ॥

buddhīndriyaprāṇaguṇairviyuktaḥ supto visañjñastṛṇakāṣṭhabhūtaḥ |
sambadhya saṃrakṣya ca yatnavadbhiḥ priyāpriyaistyajyata eṣa ko 'pi || 57 ||

'This is some poor man who, bereft of his intellect, senses, vital airs and qualities, lying asleep and unconscious, like mere wood or straw, is abandoned alike by friends and enemies after they have carefully swathed and guarded him.'
