This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 67.8

प्रतिवेदयथ मे क्षिप्रम् अपि याचनको सिया ।
अपि याचनको अस्य यत्र दिन्नं महाफलं ॥ ८ ॥

prativedayatha me kṣipram api yācanako siyā |
api yācanako asya yatra dinnaṃ mahāphalaṃ || 8 ||

“Let me know at once whether he is a mendicant, whether he is a mendicant a gift to whom will bring great reward.” (8)
