This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 14.5

भद्र वत अहं छेद्ये अहं भेद्ये नराधिप ।
त्वया अनतिरिच्चापि शस्त्रेहि पारमिं गता ॥ ५ ॥

bhadra vata ahaṃ chedye ahaṃ bhedye narādhipa |
tvayā anatiriccāpi śastrehi pāramiṃ gatā || 5 ||

“My lord, I am adept whether the need he for stabbing or thrusting with the sword, and so expert that not even you surpass me in the use of arms. (5)
