The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

असंभवात्संभवकारणानां न जायते किंचन नाम सर्गः ।
चिच्चेतनेनैव हि सर्गसंवित् स्वयं गृहीता द्रवताम्बुनेव ॥ ६१ ॥

asaṃbhavātsaṃbhavakāraṇānāṃ na jāyate kiṃcana nāma sargaḥ |
ciccetanenaiva hi sargasaṃvit svayaṃ gṛhītā dravatāmbuneva || 61 ||

The impossibility of the pre-existent and primordial causes, precludes the possibility of the production of anything and of the creation itself; it is the Intellection of the intellect only, that gives rise to the conception of creation; as it is the nature of water to assume its fluidity and exhibit its dilation.
