Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

मृदुनि स्वागतरवे शनैः शममुपागते ।
सभाकोणोपविष्टेषु शान्तशब्देषु बन्दिषु ॥ १३ ॥

mṛduni svāgatarave śanaiḥ śamamupāgate |
sabhākoṇopaviṣṭeṣu śāntaśabdeṣu bandiṣu || 13 ||

The soft sounds of their mutual greetings and welcomes, gradually faded away; and the sweet voice of the panegyrists and encomiasts, sitting in a corner of the hall, was all hushed and lulled to silence.
