The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.45.29

मृते राजनि राजार्थं विहरन्तमितस्ततः ।
रत्नज्ञमिव रत्नार्थं चिन्तामणिदिदृक्षया ॥ २९ ॥

mṛte rājani rājārthaṃ viharantamitastataḥ |
ratnajñamiva ratnārthaṃ cintāmaṇididṛkṣayā || 29 ||

He learnt it to be rambling about in search of a new king, to be elected in lieu of the last king who was lately dead. The royal elephant was employed as a jeweller to select the best gem to be placed on the royal throne.
