The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

तदेतदाबद्धमिह चित्तं राघव दुःखितम् ।
तृष्णाशोकसमाविष्टं रागायतनमाततम् ॥ ३९ ॥

tadetadābaddhamiha cittaṃ rāghava duḥkhitam |
tṛṣṇāśokasamāviṣṭaṃ rāgāyatanamātatam || 39 ||

Know Rama, the heart is tied to the earth by a chain of sorrow and misery; it is brimful of avarice and grief, and the abode of passions.
