The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.37.40

मित्रगर्तास्त्रिगर्तात्ता भ्रमित्वोर्ध्वं तृणोपमम् ।
विविशुर्व्यस्तमूर्धानः पातालान्तं पलायितुम् ॥ ४० ॥

mitragartāstrigartāttā bhramitvordhvaṃ tṛṇopamam |
viviśurvyastamūrdhānaḥ pātālāntaṃ palāyitum || 40 ||

The Mitragartas falling into the hands of the Trigartas, were scattered about as straws in the field, and having their heads struck off in their flight, they entered the infernal regions of death.
