The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

तद्देवि भास्करादीनां क्वाधस्तेजो गतं वद ।
शिलाजठरनिष्पन्दं मुष्टिग्राह्यं तमः कुतः ॥ ४७ ॥

līlovāca |
taddevi bhāskarādīnāṃ kvādhastejo gataṃ vada |
śilājaṭharaniṣpandaṃ muṣṭigrāhyaṃ tamaḥ kutaḥ || 47 ||

Lila said:—Tell me, O goddess! what became of the light of the sun and other luminaries, and whence came this dense darkness as to be compressed under the fist.
