The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

स्फुरति वल्गति गच्छति याचते भ्रमति मज्जति संहरति स्वयम् ।
अपरतामुपयात्यपि केवलं चलति चञ्चलशक्तितया मनः ॥ ८० ॥

sphurati valgati gacchati yācate bhramati majjati saṃharati svayam |
aparatāmupayātyapi kevalaṃ calati cañcalaśaktitayā manaḥ || 80 ||

The mind by its potentiality of vacillation has many actions of its own, as those of expansion, saltation, and motion, of craving, roving, diving and seizing, and many other voluntary efforts.
