The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

आपतन्ति प्रतिपदं यथाकालं दहन्ति च ।
दुःखचिन्ता नरं मूढं तृणमग्निशिखा इव ॥ ४० ॥

āpatanti pratipadaṃ yathākālaṃ dahanti ca |
duḥkhacintā naraṃ mūḍhaṃ tṛṇamagniśikhā iva || 40 ||

The incessant cares and miseries which befall to men at every step, serve sometimes to torment the ignorant mind as a flame of fire burns away the straw.
