ऐहिकः प्राक्तनं हन्ति प्राक्तनोऽद्यतनं बलात् ।
सर्वदा पुरुषस्पन्दस्तत्रानुद्वेगवाञ्जयी ॥ १८ ॥

aihikaḥ prāktanaṃ hanti prāktano'dyatanaṃ balāt |
sarvadā puruṣaspandastatrānudvegavāñjayī || 18 ||

Present acts destroy those of the past life and so also the vice versa comes to pass; but the exertions of a man are undoubtedly successful.
