The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

श्रीराम उवाच ।
इति मे दोषदावाग्निदग्धे महति चेतसि ।
प्रस्फुरन्ति न भोगाशा मृगतृष्णाः सरःस्विव ॥ १ ॥

śrīrāma uvāca |
iti me doṣadāvāgnidagdhe mahati cetasi |
prasphuranti na bhogāśā mṛgatṛṣṇāḥ saraḥsviva || 1 ||

Thus is my heart consumed by the wild-fire of those great worldly evils, and there rises in me no desire of enjoying them, as there rises no mirage from a lake.
