The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 6.67

विलोक्य भूयश्च रुरोद सस्वरं हयं भुजाभ्यामुपगुह्य कन्थकम् ।
ततो निराशो विलपन्मुहुर्मुहुर्ययौ शरीरेण पुरं न चेतसा ॥ ६७ ॥

vilokya bhūyaśca ruroda sasvaraṃ hayaṃ bhujābhyāmupaguhya kanthakam |
tato nirāśo vilapanmuhurmuhuryayau śarīreṇa puraṃ na cetasā || 67 ||

Having looked again he wept aloud, and embraced the horse Kanthaka with his arms; and then, hopeless and repeatedly lamenting, he went in body to the city, not in soul.
