by Émile Senart | 1882 | 56,574 words

This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 95.11

न मे आचार्यो अस्ति कश्चित् सदृशो मे न विद्यते ।
एको स्मि लोके संबुद्धो प्राप्तो संबोधिम् उत्तमां ॥ ११ ॥

na me ācāryo asti kaścit sadṛśo me na vidyate |
eko smi loke saṃbuddho prāpto saṃbodhim uttamāṃ || 11 ||

Without a teacher am I; none equal to me can he found. I alone in the world am perfect Buddha, having won the peerless enlightenment. (11)
