This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 87.100

वीर्यन्तु यन्त्रेति बोधिं अनन्यभाषितं बलं ।
न च वीर्यं न प्रशस्तं बोध्यंगबलम् इन्द्रियं ॥ १०० ॥

vīryantu yantreti bodhiṃ ananyabhāṣitaṃ balaṃ |
na ca vīryaṃ na praśastaṃ bodhyaṃgabalam indriyaṃ || 100 ||

“It is energy, the force that none other but me speaks of, which is the instrument of enlightenment. And energy is not without praise as a force and faculty of the bodhyangas. (100)
