This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 77.2

वाराणस्यां महाराज काकराजा निवासितो ।
अशीतिकाकसहस्रेहि सुपात्रो परिवारितो ॥ २ ॥

vārāṇasyāṃ mahārāja kākarājā nivāsito |
aśītikākasahasrehi supātro parivārito || 2 ||

In Benares, sire, there dwells a king of crows, Supatra, who has a following of eighty-thousand crows. (2)
