This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 76.118

कुतस् त्वम् आगच्छसि रक्तचीवर केन त्वम् अर्थेन इहानुप्राप्तो ।
किं वात्र आकांक्षसि त्वं उडायि सुदुल्लभं सिद्धव्रतान दर्शनं ॥ ११८ ॥

kutas tvam āgacchasi raktacīvara kena tvam arthena ihānuprāpto |
kiṃ vātra ākāṃkṣasi tvaṃ uḍāyi sudullabhaṃ siddhavratāna darśanaṃ || 118 ||

“Whence do you come garbed in a robe of red? On what mission have you come hither? And what, Udayin, do you desire here? Rare is the sight of those who have their vows fulfilled.” (118)
