This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 53.44

तं अवच बोधिसत्वो खरं मम शोकशल्यपरिदाघं ।
व्यपनयसि राजकुंजर इमां गिराम् अभ्युदीरेन्तो ॥ ४४ ॥

taṃ avaca bodhisatvo kharaṃ mama śokaśalyaparidāghaṃ |
vyapanayasi rājakuṃjara imāṃ girām abhyudīrento || 44 ||

The Bodhisattva said to him, “O most excellent king, by saying those words you have removed the bitter burning arrow of my grief. (44)
