This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 53.19

मृगपोतकेहि सार्धं प्रतिवसति आश्रमेषु रमणियेषु ।
मृग इव मृगेहि सार्धं वसति अरण्ये ऋषिकुमारो ॥ १९ ॥

mṛgapotakehi sārdhaṃ prativasati āśrameṣu ramaṇiyeṣu |
mṛga iva mṛgehi sārdhaṃ vasati araṇye ṛṣikumāro || 19 ||

With the young animals he dwelt in the pleasant retreats. Like an animal the young seer dwelt with the animals in the forest. (19)
