This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 52.63

एवम् उक्ते महाप्राज्ञो महात्मा सत्यवागृषिः ।
उवाच वदतां श्रेष्ठं शाक्यराजकुलोदितं ॥ ६३ ॥

evam ukte mahāprājño mahātmā satyavāgṛṣiḥ |
uvāca vadatāṃ śreṣṭhaṃ śākyarājakuloditaṃ || 63 ||

When this had been spoken, then did the greatly wise, magnanimous and truthful seer reply to the prince of speakers, the son of the Shakyans’ king, (63)
