This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 51.4

नाहं देवी न गन्धर्वी न महाराज मानुषी ।
नागकन्याहं भद्रन् ते अवीची इह आगता ॥ ४ ॥

nāhaṃ devī na gandharvī na mahārāja mānuṣī |
nāgakanyāhaṃ bhadran te avīcī iha āgatā || 4 ||

I am no deva nor Gandharva, nor, your majesty, a human being. Sir, I am a Naga maiden, come hither on a quest. (4)
