This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 44.8

यस्मिं प्रवुत्थे दुःखिता ते माता भवति दुर्मना ।
ते तं माता च मार्गते कहिं सो अमरे गतो ॥ ८ ॥

yasmiṃ pravutthe duḥkhitā te mātā bhavati durmanā |
te taṃ mātā ca mārgate kahiṃ so amare gato || 8 ||

Where is he gone, Amara, at whose absence your mother is unhappy and disconsolate, and is seeking him high and low? (8)
