This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 20.14

वयं अपि लोकहिताय मनोरमाम् ओशिरित्व कामरतिं ।
पूजार्थं तव अतिदेव मनुष्यलोके वसिष्यामो ॥ १४ ॥

vayaṃ api lokahitāya manoramām ośiritva kāmaratiṃ |
pūjārthaṃ tava atideva manuṣyaloke vasiṣyāmo || 14 ||

“And we also, for the world’s sake and to do thee honour, thou deva above all devas, shall renounce the sweet enjoyment of the pleasures of sense and go to dwell in the world of men.” (14)
