This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 2.9

महद्भयंकरा सर्वे अर्चिशतसमाकुला ।
एकैको योजनशतं आदाये संप्रभासति ॥ ९ ॥

mahadbhayaṃkarā sarve arciśatasamākulā |
ekaiko yojanaśataṃ ādāye saṃprabhāsati || 9 ||

All the fearful hells are filled with hundreds of flames, each of which spreads its glow abroad a hundred yojanas. (9)
