The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

ज्योतिर्मयं विवृत्तं तु धारासाराम्बरीकृतम् ।
युगसंवत्सराद्यात्म कालचक्रं प्रवर्तते ॥ ३७ ॥

jyotirmayaṃ vivṛttaṃ tu dhārāsārāmbarīkṛtam |
yugasaṃvatsarādyātma kālacakraṃ pravartate || 37 ||

It makes the luminaries of heaven, to roll on in their regular revolutions, and causes the rains and dews of the sky, to pour down in their stated seasons; and it is this eternal destiny that directs the courses of years, ages and cycles, and the whole curricle of time to run its wonted course.
